Having an innate love for creativity, growing up experimenting with different art forms and mediums from ceramics and painting to pottery, Emilie Ristevski (@helloemilie) discovered the art of photography about 10 years ago in a tiny dark room in her school. Built upon natural light and curiosity, her work brings beautiful moments to life through meaningful storytelling. Emilie is currently based in the East Coast of Australia, and divides her time between the mountains and the sea. Focusing purely on travel was never intentional as she studied her undergraduate in design, and always thought of ending up within that realm. However, photography always made its way back to her and she fell in love with its process, the idea behind creative imagery and the ability to tell stories.
Emilie's series Tasmania truly eye catching due to its breath-taking landscapes and the warm colors which make one feel like snuggling in a blanket with a hot cup of cocoa. The continual ebb and flow of being creative and constantly being on the move requires adaptability and to see things differently, which is clearly seen in her photographs.
With an innate sense of adventure and fascination for the unknown, her collection of work documents her appreciation for the natural beauty found throughout the world. She has a very prominent style of dream-like-imagery and that has led her to all the corners of the planet: from the remote villages in South America to the wild landscapes of Antarctica, Iceland, Namibia and everywhere in between.
Inspiration can be found from the way the light moves across the sky, a place, a scent from my childhood, a plant, an old book, a walk in the mountains or a swim in the lake, or sometimes a certain song.
She has always been infatuated by light and the power light has to change everything. The combination of these elements of nature and the way humans have little or no control is what inspires her the most to be able to create and capture beautiful fleeting moments. She loves how her different creative pursuits can merge together with each set of skills helping to balance each other out and that allows her to develop concepts and projects.
