Despite her age and breast cancer, the director Agnès Varda never stopped being active and participating in events in which she was directly involved (exhibitions, film festivals etc.) until the 29th of March when she succombed to her illness in her Parisian apartment.
She will forever be remembered as an emblematic personality of the French New Wave cinema movement of the 60s, to which she was the only female figure. Proudly feminist, incurably optimist and a passionate artist, she started as a photographer in her early 20s and gradually transitioned into cinema. Her eclectic work ranges from fiction to documentary: always with a very personal and pioneering touch.
